Sailfish Weathervane
The Sailfish weather vane (Istiophorus platypterus) featured in this image consists of a copper fish with brass waves. In the case of this particular weather vane, our customer had us gold leaf the the small spots in the fins. Because our vanes are made to order, the choice of metals can be modified at the time an order is placed.
Seen below is an extra-large version of the Sailfish weathervane. It was commissioned as a birthday gift and destined to go a top a 66’x70’ two story barn. Not to long ago, we received some photos of the installed weathervane, along with this note: "Back in Feb 2004, I commissioned you to do a sailfish weathervane for us. It’s taken us 3 years to finally display it, and it has found a ‘new’ home. It was originally to go on top of our barn…which you made it for, after I gave you the barn’s dimensions. Well, that didn’t happen. Hubby changed his mind, and had our guys build a cupola for the addition to our old garage (it’s nearly as tall as our barn, and is over 1600 sq ft.) which is directly across from the barn. It will be more visible from the road and more will be able to see it, than if it were on the barn. Of course we can see it out the kitchen window, which comes in handy for the thunderstorms we get in the summer months. "

At the time you call, we will provide you with an estimated completion date.
At the time the order is placed, a deposit of 1/3 is due. Upon receipt of the deposit, time will be reserved in our schedule. The balance is due when the weather vane has been completed and prior to shipping. Deposits can be made with Visa, MasterCard or check.
All West Coast Weather Vanes are custom made for the person who orders them.
