The King Salmon weathervane Oncorhynchus
tshawytscha (also known as a Chinook Salmon, Spring Salmon,
Tyee
Salmon or Quinnat Salmon) featured in this image consists of a copper fish
with brass fins and tail. To distinguish it from what we call our Chinook
Salmon, which is portrayed by itself (see photo below) as it would appear
after returning from life at sea and ready to spawn, we portray this salmon as
a younger fish in a more natural setting near the bottom of a river bed
chasing a smaller fish.
This salmon weathervane can either
be made in all copper or the body in copper and the fins and tail in brass for
a subtle distinction between the metals (as shown here in the above photo).
Because these weathervanes are made to order, you get to specify your
preference. We can also optionally gild the fish’s speckles, fins and tail as
well as the little fish so they will remain golden as the rest of the
weathervane undergoes its patina process. If you have questions about these
choices, we are happy to elaborate on these options and/or make
recommendations.
In addition, you can order
this King Salmon weathervane in one of two ways:
1.
The King Salmon by itself (as depicted below) with or without the line and fly
or,
2.
It can be made with a river bottom and little fish with no line in its mouth
(as depicted in the image of the King Salmon above).
Just specify which version you like best (Salmon by itself or Salmon Chasing
Fish) and that is how we will make it for
you.

Customer Quote (with photo, bottom left)
"Dear Liz - this morning at sunrise I went out to
capture some images of our harbor. Occasion - The Tri State Sail boat
race - Chicago (Illinois) St. Joe (Michigan) Michigan City (Indiana) and
then back to Chicago. As I came home, I saw the moon hovering over our
home, and captured a picture with our weathervane pointing to the sky
which I thought you would appreciate.
Not a likely image for a fish. But then
again, my weathervane is not an ordinary fish. Little did I know just
how efficient and practical your weathervanes can be!
We enjoy our weathervane very much."
