BANNER WEATHERVANE

Our Banner Weathervane #6 is a popular new design. It is typical made of copper and employs box style construction, which makes it very strong (see photo, above right, middle, of partially constructed banner) yet gives the illusion of a lightweight cloth flag billowing in the wind. Because it is made to order, we can also add optional gold leafed lettering (see photo above right), logos, etc. to further personalize it.

Decorative Banner Weathervane - Customer Photo

We’ve attached a new variation on our Decorative Banner weathervane #6 done for a couple in Oregon. They built a new horse barn and wanted a weathervane for the top of the cupola. We worked with them to create a logo for their place, which is called Last Chance Ranch, hence the LCR in the logo. Their weathervane was made in copper with the lettering done in “gold leaf”. They graciously allowed us to show a photo of the weathervane on their almost completed barn.  

A banner is a flag or other piece of cloth bearing a symbol, logo, slogan or other message. Banner-making is an ancient craft. The word derives from late Latin bandum, a cloth out of which a flag is made (Latin banderia, Italian bandiera), (Spanish bandera). German developed the word to mean an official edict or proclamation and since such written orders often prohibited some form of human activity, bandum assumed the meaning of a ban, control, interdict or excommunication. Banns has the same origin meaning an official proclamation, and abandon means to change loyalty or disobey orders, semantically "to leave the cloth or flag".

Banner Weathervane, Customer Photos, Doane Stuart School

We made one of these Banner Weathervanes for a school on the East Coast. Their weathervane sculpture was large (~53” wide by 31” tall) as it was going on top of a very big building. They had us gold leaf the letters for the name of their school onto both sides of their banner. Once it was installed they were kind enough to send us several photos of the new weathervane on top the school. Here is a quote from the Director of Admissions: “I have been meaning to send you a photo of the weathervane in its final resting place (please see attached). We were all very impressed with the sculpture, and with the exceptional service you and your colleagues provided during the process. Thank you again, all the best!”
