Canadian Goose Weathervanes, Alternate Designs
This Flying Canada Goose
Weathervane is a double sided weathervane design, which means it looks
the same when viewed from either side.
The thumbnail image (above left) takes you to more information and photos of the
Canada Sentinel Goose Weathervane. The
thumbnail (above right) takes you to more information and photos of the
Running Goose
weather vane.
We also offer many bird
designs. Click
here to see our selections.
The
photo in the center shows one option for gold leafing this weathervane. On this
particular Canada Goose, we gilded the bird’s head, neck, legs and tail
feathers. These sections will stay a light golden color as the copper sections
patina first a deep chocolate brown color and then eventually green. The two
drawings show alternative gilding options. I have added some color to give you a
feel for how the two vanes would look when completed.
Note the “T” Brace between the
bird’s wings (above right, bottom thumbnail). We put this there to strengthen
the sculpture piece. Most of our birds with big wings shown in the upbeat
position, will have similar bracing between the wings.
The
first drawing shows the Flying Canada Goose with some palladium and gold leafed
accents (alternative 1). If you’d like to see an example of actual palladium on
a weathervane, here is a link to a Unicorn we did several years ago for another
customer:
Palladium Unicorn.
As another example,
The Bull in
this photo shows palladium horns and directional letters in relationship to
copper.
The
second drawing shows the Flying Canada Goose with a copper goose with gold
leafed accents (alternative 2). As the copper patinas, it will turn a dark
chocolate brown color (almost black) and will very closely approximate the
appearance of a real Canada Goose. If you’d like to see examples of weathered
copper with gold leaf, please click here and look at the two photos of the
Phoenix
weathervane. This version has a lot more gold on
it so would be the most expensive option.
Many refer to the Canada Goose
as a Canadian Goose, both terms are generally accepted.
If you would like quotes for any
of these gilding options, please give us a call at (831) 425-5505.
