CAT WEATHERVANE

Cat with Hummingbird Weathervane

by West Coast Weather Vanes

Cat & Hummingbird weathervane photo

 Cat Weathervane, Cat with Hummingbird

This all copper cat weathervane features glass eyes and brass whiskers.  Distinct tooling gives the fur a realistic texture on the body.  The hummingbird is feeding from a flower.  Customers can provide photographs of their feline pets for a customized  weather vane depicting  their favorite kitty.  Glass eye color can be selected to accommodate a  variety of cat's eye colors.  For a variation of this cat weathervane, please see our Cat and Butterfly Weathervane.

The trinomial name of the domestic cat is Felis silvestris catus. Its closest pre-domesticated ancestor is believed to be the African wild cat, Felis silvestris lybica.[1] Humans have developed several dozens breeds of cat, in a variety of colours.

Cats have lived in close association with humans for at least 9,500 years.  Legends and myths about the cat exist in many cultures, from the ancient Egyptians and Chinese to the Vikings. They have been both revered and vilified by different cultures.

The Small sized Cat & Hummingbird weathervane shown at left is the photo graciously sent to us by one of our customers and features a gold leafed flower. It is attached to a vertical facia using one of our optional side brackets.

Yards and gardens are excellent places to install weathervanes. The fine detail such as fur and whiskers, are easily visible, and in the winter, when the garden is dormant, the weathervane adds a element of movement and interest.  The Cat & Hummingbird weathervane shown to the right is a medium sized vane and is highlighted by the late afternoon sun.
