Above Right (bottom 2 photos): The two wonderful photos of a Small Cat & Mice weathervane perched on a deck railing were graciously sent to us by a customer in Washington State. As you can see, it certainly has a dramatic and ever-changing backdrop on which it can gaze!

This all copper cat weathervane features glass eyes and brass whiskers. Distinct tooling gives the fur a realistic texture on the body. The mice sit on each weathervane directional. When the wind blows, the cat looks like it's playing with the mice. Customers can provide photographs of their feline pets for a customized weather vane depicting their favorite kitty. Glass eye color can be selected to accommodate a variety of cat's eye colors.

Included above right and left are photos of a gold leafed version of this playful kitty. In this case, we added a collar on the cat and left it copper-colored so it would contrast nicely against the golden cat. Our customer also had us gild the five individual mice. Also note that the mice can be made in silhouette form (included in the standard price) or swell bodied with glass eyes as an option

This particular weathervane design is also available as a machine-stamped vane. West Coast Weather Vanes created the original design and has given permission to overseas manufacturers to offer a less expensive alternative. The machine pressed version does not have glass eyes, collar, or fur texture, and is available in two standard sizes.

The original idea of incorporating the directionals into an active design element of the turning weathervane, is an original design concept by West Coast Weather Vanes. We have used this concept on a number of our weathervanes, such as our Robin & Chicks Weathervane, Wine Bottle & Wine Glasses Weathervane, and Hunting Bald Eagle Weathervane. Our design concept has now been copied by many other vane makers.

The trinomial name of the domestic cat is Felis silvestris catus. Its closest pre-domesticated ancestor is believed to be the African wild cat, Felis silvestris lybica. Humans have developed several dozens breeds of cat, in a variety of colors.

Cats have lived in close association with humans for at least 9,500 years. Legends and myths about the cat exist in many cultures, from the ancient Egyptians and Chinese to the Vikings. They have been both revered and vilified by different cultures.

At the time the order is placed, a deposit of 1/3 is due. Upon receipt of the deposit, time will be reserved in our schedule. The balance is due when the weather vane has been completed and prior to shipping. Deposits can be made with Visa, MasterCard or check.
