This handmade
copper weather vane depicts a variation on our
Charging Bull
weathervane with the bull in a more deliberative, upright
position. The customer who commissioned this weathervane design requested that
it be made with nickel silver horns in our Extra-Large four-foot size. One set
of photos shows the bull with our standard oversized brass
directionals. The other versions show the weathervane with the custom made
nickel silver directionals also commissioned from us by this customer. The last
picture was graciously sent to us by our customer after the weathervane had been
installed. You can actually see the very early stages of the patina process in
this photo..
Cattle
(often called cows in
vernacular and contemporary usage, or kye as the Scots
plural of cou) are domesticated ungulates, a member of the subfamily
Bovines of the family
Bovidae. They are raised
as livestock for meat (called beef and veal), dairy products (milk), leather and
as draught animals (pulling carts, plows and the like). In some countries, such
as India, they are subject to religious ceremonies and respect. It is estimated
that there are 1.3 billion head of cattle in the world today.
Cows - Cattle are ruminants,
meaning that they have a digestive system that allows them to utilize otherwise
undigestible foods by repeatedly regurgitating and rechewing them as "cud." The
cud is then reswallowed and further digested by specialized microorganisms that
live in the rumen. These features allow cattle to thrive on grasses and other
vegetation
A Bull is an
adult male of various large animal species including moose, bovines (esp.
cattle), elephants, whales, seals, and sealions. An interesting fact about bulls
is that they are color blind. Thus, the common belief that bulls hate the color
red is untrue.
