This copper
Newfoundland
Dog weathervane features glass eyes, gold leafed patterns and distinctive tooling
which gives the fur a realistic texture on the body. Customers can
provide photographs of their special canine pets for a customized weather vane depicting
their favorite dog. Glass eye color can be selected to accommodate a
variety of dog eye colors. Personalized dog weathervanes can
feature gold-leafing to bring out your pet's distinctive markings, as well as dog
collars bearing your dog's name.
The
Newfoundland is a large, usually black, breed of dog originally used as
a working dog in Newfoundland. They are known for their sweet dispositions. They
are very loyal to their families and possess natural water rescue tendencies.

The two photos
shown here are actually the same weathervane! The photos were taken from
opposites sides of the same sculpture piece. The customer who ordered this vane
has two beloved Newfoundlands; one of whom is entirely black and
the other is a combination of black and white. As the copper in this weathervane
darkens, the gold leaf we used to indicate the lighter markings and collars will
create a visually exciting contrast that becomes more vivid as the copper
develops its dark patina.
By making the
weathervane with two distinctly different sides, our customer will be able to
enjoy seeing both her dogs depicted in the single sculpture piece, depending on
which way the wind is blowing. In addition to matching their markings, we also
included a collar with each dog’s name stamped on to the appropriate side of the
weathervane. This vane will be displayed on a wall that surrounds the dog’s
courtyard and should be visible from many different vantage points
