In the copper Rottweiler weathervane show here, we have gold leafed the dog’s lighter markings and teeth. As the copper patinas to a deep chocolate brown color, the distinction in the markings will become more pronounced and attractive. We use brown glass eyes with black pupils to give the dog a more lifelike appearance. Because we make each weathervane to order, we can make the dog either a male or female.

All our dog weathervanes can be made with an optional collar. We can actually inscribe your dog's name on the collar in either 1/4" or 1/8" tall stamped letters (cost is $1 per letter) or we can add a tag in the shape of a dog bone, a heart or a circle. Using a combination of these options, we can incorporate up to three dog's names on your weather vane! What we do is put one dog's name on one side of the collar, another dog's name on the opposite side of the collar and a third name on the dog tag. The collar and/or tag can be optionally gold leafed as well. (See below for details on gold leafing.)
The Rottweiler breed is an ancient one, and its history stretches back to the Roman Empire. In those times, the legions traveled with their meat on the hoof and required the assistance of working dogs to herd the cattle. One route the army traveled was through Württemberg and on to the small market town of Rottweil. The principal ancestor of the first Rottweilers during this time was supposed to be the Roman war dog, local sheepdogs the army met on its travels, and dogs with molosser appearance coming from England and The Netherland.

At the time you call, we will provide you with an estimated completion date.
At the time the order is placed, a deposit of 1/3 is due. Upon receipt of the deposit, time will be reserved in our schedule. The balance is due when the weather vane has been completed and prior to shipping. Deposits can be made with Visa, MasterCard or check.
