This copper Schnauzer and Squirrel weathervane featured here was originally commissioned by a customer whose Schnauzer lived to chase squirrels. We designed this Schnauzer weathervane to capture his interest with a touch of whimsy. When the customers came down to pick it up at our studio we were able to get a photo of Jack with his weathervane.
This Schnauzer dog weathervane can be made with a custom collar. We can also add a dog tag and stamp your dog’s name on it. Optionally, the collar can be gold leafed so as the copper darkens, the gold or palladium leafed collar stands out in contrast. We can also personalize the schnauzer’s profile to look more like your own dog. We do charge a fee to create a portrait weathervane but that fee depends on how substantial the changes are. We would be happy to discuss this with you and provide a quote. We can even substitute the squirrel for a chipmunk, a cat, a rabbit, etc.
In addition to the copper and brass (tree trunk) Schnauzer Weathervane with Squirrel shown in the main photo, we’ve also have included images of two other variations we have done on our Schnauzer Weathervanes. One is a portrait weathervane based on photos sent to us by one of our customers. We used optional gold leaf to match the cream colored markings on her dog. The other variation is an all copper Schnauzer. Since each weathervane is made to order we can personalize the choice of metals used based on our customer’s preferences.
A Schnauzer is a German type of dog. The name comes from the German word for moustache because of the dogs' distinctively furry noses. Kennel clubs generally subdivide these dogs into three breeds by size: Miniature Schnauzer; Standard Schnauzer; Giant Schnauzer
Though derived from a common ancestor and sharing certain physical attributes and personality traits—notably intelligence, a friendly personality (but possessing a knowledge of when to be aggressive), and a mischievous sense of humor—the three breeds are separate types of dogs. Schnauzers are also very loyal dogs.
Above left are variations on dogs with squirrels or bunnies. While these images feature Schnauzers, Wheaten Terriers and German Shepherds, we can make similar vanes featuring different breeds of dogs in different combinations with squirrels or bunnies. Additionally, we can add design elements such as a tree stump, mailbox, or another dog (below). We've included the Bear and Bunny weathervane (above left) just to show you another style of bunny. Below, we've included even more variations to spark your imagination. At the time you call, we will provide you with an estimated completion date.
At the time the order is placed, a deposit of 1/3 is due. Upon receipt of the deposit, time will be reserved in our schedule. The balance is due when the weather vane has been completed and prior to shipping. Deposits can be made with Visa, MasterCard or check.
All West Coast Weather Vanes are custom made for the person who orders them.
