Dressage Horse Silhouette Weathervane
This version of our basic Dressage Horse was originally commissioned as a group gift for a elementary school teacher who was retiring to devote her time to her favorite pursuit. We sent the teachers participating in the gift two "lucky pennies", one from the year the teacher started started working at the school, and one from the year in which she retired. They all made wishes on the pennies, sent them back to us, and they cap the ends of the horizontal tube that represents the ground under the horses hooves. Those pennies were part of the gift when presented to the teacher.
Silhouette weathervanes were very popular around the turn of the century and offered a less expensive alternative to full bodied weathervanes. This particular weathervane was made in copper although we have made silhouettes where we gold leaf the mane and tail as an accent to the copper. Two additional versions of the basic Dressage Horse are shown below. We also offer several other horse weathervanes doing different forms of dressage.
The purest form of classical riding, as well as dressage, High School dressage, of Haute Ecole, take years for both the horse and rider to master. When a horse has finished its training, it can not only perform Grand Prix dressage movements like collect and extended gaits, passage, and piaffe, but can perform "Airs Above the Ground." These include the courbette, capriole, levade, and ballotade. All these movements come from when the horse was used in war, and these were for protection against the enemy.

At the time you call, we will provide you with an estimated completion date.
At the time the order is placed, a deposit of 1/3 is due. Upon receipt of the deposit, time will be reserved in our schedule. The balance is due when the weather vane has been completed and prior to shipping. Deposits can be made with Visa, MasterCard or check.
