Basic Dressage Horse Weathervane, Version 2
This
is a later
version of our basic
Dressage Horse Weathervane. In the photographs above, the mane
and tail have been gold leafed but, since all our vanes are made to order, this
horse weathervane can be made entirely in copper or with a brass or even
palladium mane and tail. In the two thumbnailed versions above, we put the name
of our customer’s stables in gold leaf on her weathervane.
This
particular horse is an example of a non-mirror image weathervane. As you can see
by looking at the two thumbnailed versions, each side of the horse is different.
When both sides of a weathervane are identical, the style is called Mirror
Image. A handcrafted, non-mirror image weathervane is typically more difficult
to make than a mirror imaged weathervane as it requires greater technical skill
and understanding of the metal to align the disparate sides of the weathervane
correctly.

The Jumping
Horse shown here is an example or a Mirror Image weathervane design.
See below for two additional
interpretation of our basic dressage horse weathervane as well as
several other dressage horse weathervanes.
The
purest form of classical riding, as well as dressage, High School dressage,
of Haute Ecole, take years for both the horse and rider to master. When a horse
has finished its training, it can not only perform Grand Prix dressage movements
like collect and extended gaits,
passage, and piaffe, but can perform "Airs Above
the Ground." These include the courbette, capriole, levade, and ballotade. All
these movements come from when the horse was used in war, and these were for
protection against the enemy.
