Dressage Horse Weathervane Extended Trot,
Version 1 & 2

The
Dressage Horse, extended
trot weathervane shown in the larger view above, was made in
copper with a brass mane and tail. Brass, which is primarily composed of
copper, patinas similarly to copper but will show a subtle variation in color
over time. We have also made this horse weathervane with a gold leaf mane and
tail. While brass and gold leaf look similar when the weathervane is new, the
gold leaf remains shiny and golden and over time, the distinction between the
gold leaf and the copper becomes more pronounced.
The decision
to go all copper, copper and brass, or copper with gold leaf depends on how
prominent you want the weathervane to appear in its setting. Personally, I am a
fan of the gold leafing because it keeps the visual dynamic more interesting as
it moves through the patina process. Gold leaf also helps the weathervane stand
out against a competitive background, such as trees.
The
thumbnailed version above of the weathervane design was made for a customer who
preferred a less extreme version of our original design. We worked with her to
modify the design to her specifications. The cost to modify a design depends on
how much rework is required and how much research we must do to make the
modifications. If you are interested in modifying one of our designs, please
give us a call at (831) 425-5505 to discuss your ideas. Once we have an idea of
what you have in mind, we can prepare a quote for your consideration.
The purest
form of classical riding, as well as dressage,
High School dressage, of Haute Ecole,
take years for both the horse and rider to master. When a horse has finished its
training, it can not only perform Grand Prix dressage movements like collect and
extended gaits, passage, and piaffe, but can perform "Airs Above the Ground."
These include the courbette, capriole, levade, and ballotade. All these
movements come from when the horse was used in war, and these were for
protection against the enemy.
