We have made
this passage horse
weathervane with and without a rider. If you look closely, you
will see that the leg position and tails on the two horses are slightly
different. Because each weathervane is made to order, we are often able to
accommodate customer's requests for additional personalization. Depending on the
changes requested, we may charge a fee to make the changes, especially if they
require submitting the reworked design for your approval. Please contact us if
you have ideas about modifying the weathervane and we would be happy to discuss
it further with you.
As our
technical skill has grown, we are often able to make the entire lower body as
one piece. Looking closely at the horse above you can see at the time we made
this particular horse, we needed to break the body at the hindquarters. The
head and neck still need to be crafted as a separate piece, but we place the
joint at a natural contour in the horse's body.
We have also
made the Passage Horse as a silhouette weathervane. We gilded the mane, tail and
leg wraps to add visual interest but can make it entirely in copper or add
palladium (silver colored) leaf instead if desired.
The
Dressage Horse, Passage
weather vane featured in this photo has glass eyes that were
custom made for this weather vane. They give it a very life like appearance!

This
silhouette Passage Horse weathervane was originally commissioned as a gift
from one best friend to another. As part of the birthday present, the gift
giver made special wishes on two pennies, one from the year her childhood
friend had been born and one from the year she was celebrating her birthday.
We soldered these two pennies to the circular brass base that accompanies
our small sized weathervanes. In between the two pennies, our customer asked
us to put a wonderful Danish proverb, which reads: THE ROAD TO A FRIEND’S
HOUSE IS NEVER LONG.
In
addition to offering the Passage Horse weather vane as a silhouette, we also
offer it as a swell-bodied weathervane, with or without a rider. Please
