Per our
customer’s request, the Jumping Horse and Rider weathervane
featured in this photo was made in all copper with no gold leaf or brass
accents. Because our vanes are made to order, we can make each weathervane
according to our customer’s preferences. The all copper weather vane is very
traditional. The use of brass in the sculpture piece complements the brass
directionals (north, south, east and west arms). Gold leaf accents create a
bolder, more distinctive contrast between all the various elements that comprise
the weathervane.
The Jumping Horse
weathervane with Rider featured here was made in the extra-large size
(four feet from tip of nose to end of tail) for a large indoor riding
area on the east coast. It was done in a combination of copper and brass
although we often add gold leafed accents (mane, tail, rider's face,
hands, boots or saddle blanket, etc). Our Jumping Horse weathervane
(shown to the right) features a vane where the gold leafing was added.
Show jumping
or "jumpers" is a member of a family of English-discipline equestrian events
that includes dressage, eventing, hunters and equitation. Jumping classes are
commonly seen at Horse shows throughout the world, including the Olympics.
