The Girl with an Umbrella Weather Vane is an all copper silhouette style weathervane. Silhouette weathervanes were popular in the Victorian Age and are a less expensive alternative to more traditional swell-bodied weathervanes. To provide visual interest, we can also add optional gold leaf to help further define elements of this particular design. The silhouette Piper and Bird weathervane is an example where optional gold leaf has been used effectively to define the boy, bird and flute.
We also offer the Girl with an Umbrella Weathervane as a swell bodied weather vane. A swell bodied weather vane has dimension, meaning it is made of two separate hand-shaped pieces of copper which are soldered together, leaving a hollow interior, giving it a more nuanced appearance. At the time you call, we will provide you with an estimated completion date.
At the time the order is placed, a deposit of 1/3 is due. Upon receipt of the deposit, time will be reserved in our schedule. The balance is due when the weather vane has been completed and prior to shipping. Deposits can be made with Visa, MasterCard or check.
All West Coast Weather Vanes are custom made for the person who orders them.
