This handmade copper
Mary Poppins weathervane was originally commissioned by a family who had two spectacular
sites for weathervanes on a new home they were having built. They had two small
children and the mother wanted to have
story book character weathervanes based on
her children's favorite stories, so we made her the Wicked Witch of the West
from the Wizard of Oz, and Mary Poppins. She had two cupolas on her home and put
one weathervane on each cupola. In addition to commissioning the Mary Poppins
weathervane design, they also ordered one of our
Witch weathervanes, loosely
based on the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum.
For those who don’t know the story, Mary Poppins is the title character in a beloved series of children's books written by P. L. Travers (born Helen Lyndon Goff aka Pamela Lyndon Travers) and originally published in 1934 with illustrations by Mary Shepard. It has as its focus a magical nanny who is blown in by a windstorm (appropriate for a weathervane design, wouldn’t you say?). She comes to take care of the three Banks children at Number Seventeen Cherry-Tree Lane in London, England. Mary Poppins and the children have a series of wonderful adventures as she gently teaches them important lessons about life.
Mary Poppins is also the subject of a well known movie made by Walt Disney in 1964 and numerous musical theatre productions. Many of the songs from the musical have become famous in their own right including Chim Chim Cheree,Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, A Spoonful of Sugar, and Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag).

At the time you call, we will provide you with an estimated completion date.
At the time the order is placed, a deposit of 1/3 is due. Upon receipt of the deposit, time will be reserved in our schedule. The balance is due when the weather vane has been completed and prior to shipping. Deposits can be made with Visa, MasterCard or check.
All West Coast Weather Vanes are custom made for the person who orders them.
