Teapot weathervane
4 Cups of Tea

Teapot weathervane,
1 Cup & "Tea" |
West Coast Weather Vanes
is participating in an exciting fundraiser in support of the
Central Asia Institute,
a nonprofit organization founded by Greg Mortenson, the author of the
acclaimed book,
"Three Cups of Tea".
Proceeds go to support community based education and literacy programs,
especially for girls, in remote regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan. This is
a limited time offer. Bidding opens of January 25th, 2010 and the
fundraiser concludes on February 11, 2010.
We have
created an exclusive custom copper weathervane
especially to support the efforts of the
Central Asia Institute.
The word
TEA and the trim lines on the tea pot and teacups have been gilded with 23
carat gold; a tradition that first became popular in the Victorian Age. The
gold will stay a light golden color as the copper patinas first a deep
chocolate brown color and then eventually a beautiful turquoise green (like
the Statue of Liberty). The “steam” in each cup is nickel silver and rests
on an independent pivot, allowing them to turn independently in the wind,
along with the teapot. Each saucer has a part of the lovely saying quoted in
Greg Mortenson’s book, “Three Cups of Tea”, stamped into it.
THE FIRST CUP OF TEA, YOU’RE A STRANGER
THE SECOND CUP OF TEA, YOU’RE A FRIEND
THE THIRD CUP OF TEA, YOU’RE FAMILY
This
weathervane is valued at $1395. Bidding for the weathervane will start at
$600. Online bidding begins on January 25, 2010. The opportunity to bid on
this weathervane and other lovely handcrafted items is open to everyone. For
more information on the event and how you can
participate in it, please click on this link:
Three Cups of Tea Fundraiser
The
featured Three Cups of Tea weathervane, donated to the
fundraising effort, was made in the small (one-foot sculpture piece)
size. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction sale of this
weathervane will go to support
The Central Asia Institute’s
fundraising efforts.
In the
case of any future editions of the Three Cups of Tea Weathervanes
we will be making (either in the small or medium size), West Coast
Weather Vanes will donate 15% of the purchase price to the Central Asia
Institute.
So,
if you are looking for a West Coast Weather Vanes at a special price, this
may be your chance. If you have any questions about this or any of our other
weathervanes, please feel free to

us or give us a call at (831) 425-5505.
Other organizations we support are the
USO (United Service Organizations)
and
Doctors Without Borders.
A
teapot is a vessel used for
steeping tea leaves or a herbal mix in near-boiling water. Tea may be either
in a tea bag or loose, in which case a tea strainer will be needed, either
to hold the leaves as they steep or to catch the leaves inside the teapot
when the tea is poured. Teapots usually have an opening with a lid at their
top, where the tea and water are added, a handle for holding by hand and a
spout through which the tea is served. Some teapots have a strainer built-in
on the inner edge of spout. A small hole in the lid is necessary for air
access inside to stop the spout from dripping and splashing when tea is
poured. In modern times, a tea cosy may be used to enhance the steeping or
to prevent the contents of the teapot from cooling too rapidly. A tea
connoisseur will usually warm the teapot by rinsing it with boiling water
and then draining it completely before making tea.
A
teacup is a small cup with a
handle, generally a small one that may be grasped with the thumb and one or
two fingers. It is usually part of a set, composed of a cup and a matching
saucer. These in turn may be part of a tea set in combination with a teapot,
cream jug, covered sugar bowl and slop bowl en suite. Teacups are wider and
shorter than coffee cups.
