In this
Bobcat weathervane design, we’ve tried to capture the graceful yet
powerful appearance of one of the North America's most beautiful large cats. In
one version of our Bobcat weather vane, we made the cat entirely
copper. In the other version, we’ve used some optional gold leaf to match its
striking markings. Because we make each weathervane to order, we work with each
customer to create this bobcat weathervane according to his or her preferences.
In the detail photo of the bobcat’s head, you can clearly see its brown glass
eyes with black pupils. They definitely give the cat a more animated and alert
appearance.
The Bobcat (Lynx rufus),
occasionally known as the Bay Lynx, is a North American mammal of the cat
family, Felidae. With twelve recognized subspecies, it ranges from southern
Canada to northern Mexico, including most of the continental United States. The
Bobcat is an adaptable predator that inhabits wooded areas, as well as
semi-desert, urban edge, and swampland environments. It persists in much of its
original range and populations are healthy.
This weathervane works nicely in a
paired grouping such as with a deer, big horn sheep, etc. If you order two or
more weathervanes from us at the same time, we offer a 10% discount on both
vanes.

We’ve also
enclosed two photos we took of a bobcat here on our property in the Santa Cruz
Mountains. This one is a young cat and not at all afraid of us. I was actually
able to get within about 20 feet of it to take these photos. You can see how its
coat alters in sunlight and shadow so that it blends into its environment.
Because we have a live model here in the neighborhood, the Bobcat weathervane is
one of our personal favorites.
