Alpine Goat Weathervane Pricing
The Alpine
Goat weathervane is a new
West Coast Weather Vanes design. Because we make each weathervane to individual
order, customers can specify that it be made in all copper, in a combination of
copper and brass or with optional gold leaf. We have depicted our Mountain Goat
perched on a mountain to reflect its natural habitat.

The
Alpine Goat weathervane featured in the photos above was made in
the extra large (4') size, as the home on which it was placed was quite large.
Interestingly, the owners of this weathervane raised goats to assist in the
production of antibodies to fight disease in humans. |
|
Since we
are depicting an Alpine Goat in this weather vane, we thought it would be
nice to perch the goat on its own little mountain. The version featured here
is a Portrait Goat weathervane. Our customer sent us photos of their goat
and we matched its markings. If you prefer, the weather vane can be done in
all copper, a combination of copper and brass, or we can add optional gold
leafing. Personally, I like to do the mountain made in brass and the goat in
copper, with optional gilded horns as an accent. Some customers have even add an
optional goat bell on a collar. We even use lifelike goat
eyes to give the weathervane a more animated appearance:

As you can
see, we do a wide variety of goats, both domestic and wild. If you have a
particular breed such as Nubian Goats, Pygmy Goats, Dwarf Goats, Angoras or
Cashmere, etc. we would be happy to work with you to create a weathervane
based on your particular breed. We have even had customers include the name
of their farms on the weathervane and write it off as an advertising
expense!
The Alpine
goat is a dairy goat. The French-Alpine is a breed of goat that originated
in the Alps. The goats of Alpine type that were brought to the United States
from France where they had been selected for much greater uniformity, size,
and production than was true of the goats that were taken from Switzerland
to France. These are hardy, adaptable animals that thrive in any climate
while maintaining good health and excellent production.
In lower regions below the tree line, nannies also
use their fighting abilities to protect themselves and their offspring from
predators, such as
wolves,
wolverines,
cougars,
lynx
and
bears.
Even though their size protects them from most potential predators in higher
altitudes, females still must defend their young from eagles, which can be a
threat to very young kids. Nannies have even been observed trying to dominate
the more passive
bighorn sheep
that share some of their territory.
