This Fierce Rooster Weathervane was commissioned by a couple who had found a picture in the Farmer’s Almanac of a cast iron rooster and they asked us to recreate it in copper as a weather vane for their barn. We chose to fabricate this sculpture piece in deep swell-bodied style (not quite 3D) to give the simple shapes increased depth. With its feather texturing and alert stance it really is successful, visually. The eyes are glass, selected from our wide array, and we think the arrow chosen also enhances the piece.
This vane would also take well to optional gilding. Customers have requested gilding on the beak, legs, neck and tail feathers. All of which are very effective.
