Cat Weathervane – Persian Resting on Branch

Persian Cat Weather Vane on Branch

The Persian Cat Weathervane featured here is a variation on our original Cat and Hummingbird Weathervane. One of our customer’s saw the original version and liked it. She was going to mount her weathervane atop a 35 foot flag pole and wanted it to look like her Persian cats. We put inscriptions on either side of the horizontal tube with her cat’s names. She chose translucent blue glass eyes from our selection of colors including topaz, green, emerald and blue. We also included “lucky” pennies from the year each of her cats were born.

In this case, our customer had a beautiful white Persian cat and requested optional gold leaf to mimic its coloration. Optional gilding in Palladium leaf will create a more silvery effect, if desired.

And this lovely exclamation from our customer whose cupola is in the pictures: We love it and are so happy we found you!! A completely ecstatic customer!

Because each and every piece is custom made at West Coast Weather Vanes, personalization is a pleasure. If you have something special in mind, please give us a call or drop us an email and we would be happy to discuss what would be involved in making a one-of-a-kind Weathervane for you.

The trinomial name of the domestic cat is Felis silvestris catus. Its closest pre-domesticated ancestor is believed to be the African wild cat, Felis silvestris lybica. Humans have developed several dozens breeds of cat, in a variety of colors. Cats have lived in close association with humans for at least 9,500 years. Legends and myths about the cat exist in many cultures, from the ancient Egyptians and Chinese to the Vikings. They have been both revered and vilified by different cultures.
