This Black and Tan Coonhound Dog Weathervane is fabricated from copper sheet in swell-bodied style. Here, we also applied optional gold leaf to the dog’s muzzle and paws, to replicate the dog’s tan markings. These bright gilded areas will remain in contrast to the weathering copper for many decades.

The Black and Tan Coonhound is used principally for trailing and treeing raccoons. It runs game entirely by scent. The courage of the Coonhound also makes him proficient on the hunt for deer, bear, mountain lion and other big game, though few states permit hunting antlered animals with dogs. The general impression of Coonhounds is that of power, agility, and alertness, with the ability to cover ground swiftly with powerful rhythmic strides.
