Dog Weathervane Dachshund – Wire Haired Standing

This copper Wire Haired Dachshund Dog Weathervane features brown  glass eyes  with black pupils and distinctive tooling to give the dog a more lifelike appearance. We often personalize our designs by adding a collar and tag with your dog’s name on it, to indicate gender, and even match markings!. We match markings with the use of optional gold leafing. The dachshund is a short-legged, elongated dog breed of the hound family. The breed’s name is German and literally means ‘badger dog’ from (der) Dachs ‘badger’ and (der) Hund ‘dog’ (In German the dachshund is known most commonly as the Dackel. Its Teckel in Dutch. The breed was developed to scent, chase, and hunt badgers and other hole-dwelling animals. Due to the long, narrow build, they are sometimes referred to in the United States and elsewhere as a wiener dog, hot dog, or sausage dog, though such terms are considered disparaging by some.
