We have made this German Shorthaired Pointer Weathervane several times. As can be seen in the pictures above, one of these versions was a portrait of a dog named ‘Ginny’. Ginny’s family sent us very detailed pictures, which is so helpful in getting a dog’s markings correct. These optional gold leaf markings will remain bright and distinctive for many years, as the copper of the sculpture piece darkens and begins to patina.

You may order the dog’s mouth open or closed for the same price. That detail is decided at the time of your order, as is the glass eye color, any ‘Lucky Pennies’ you might want inserted in the vane in addition to the traditional penny from the year of manufacture, and any inscriptions. Options, such as gold or palladium gilding or a collar with tags, are also available.
