Our Chocolate Labrador Retriever Weathervane has been a portrait piece each time it was ordered. With the help of your photos, it could be personalized to be a portrait of your labrador retriever.
Our skilled artisans fabricate the sculpture from copper in high detail swell-bodied style. Each of the artists in our studio has made their own personal set of hammers for creating the details and textures that so beautifully communicate fur or leaves or grasses.
For one of the orders, the customer had us put stars on the directionals with an inscription for each of their four children’s names and a ‘lucky penny’ from the year of their birth. Another customer asked to have their family name and the current year inscribed on the horizontal tube below the dog’s feet.
Optional gold leaf gilding was requested for the collar and tags, with the dogs name inscribed on the tag. Some customers have also chosen to gild the dog’s teeth and the arrow tip and fletching. There are many gilding variations to make this weather vane distinct. Gilding, be it bright yellow gold or silvery palladium will create a bright contrast for many decades as a copper or brass weather vane ages and patinas.
The dog has glass eyes, which are available in a range of colors, for your choosing.
