Our Labrador Retriever Weathervane, Running on the Beach with Ball, was first commissioned by customers building their home on one of Rhode Island’s beautiful beaches. They sent pictures of their beach and ball loving Lab (has there ever been a Lab that didn’t love either the beach or balls?!) and we used those pictures to create a portrait for them. If this design is your choice, with the aid of your photos we can personalize the sculpture piece to closely resemble your dog’s stance and stature.
This vane is fabricated from copper and brass in detailed swell-bodied style. Brown glass eyes were chosen and optional gilding in gold on the ball, collar and script on the custom fletching. The dog is copper and the beach grasses are brass. As these two similar metals weather and patina the difference in their shading will become quite subtle, but still apparent.
Labrador Retrievers are a very popular breed, being sweet, smart, and playful. This popularity is reflected in the variety we have designed through the years.
