Dog Weathervane – Poodle Running

This Running Poodle Weather Vane is one of three Poodle weathervanes currently offered here at West Coast Weather Vanes. In addition to the Running Poodle, we offer a Trotting Poodle and a Poodle in a play bow with a ball. With any of our dog weathervanes, you can request a specific gender. We can also add an optional collar and tag with your dog’s name stamped on it. The tag can be in the shape of dog bone, circle or heart.

We can also match coat clips on our Poodle Weathervanes. For example, we could make the Poodle in a Continental, English Saddle, Puppy or Sporting clip. We can construct your vane in a metal combination of copper and brass, and apply optional palladium or gold leaf to match the distinctive coloration of your dog. We can also create Poodles in other poses. If yours is a show dog, we could make your Poodle Weathervane in the classic conformation pose.Our goal is to make each of our Poodle Weather Vanes reflect the personality of the dog we are portraying.

The distinctive Poodle’s coat is created using custom designed hammers made here in our studio. We apply hundreds of individually positioned hammer blows to create different textures in the metal. Heavier individual hammer blows will create the feel of a Sporting clip while many feather-light blows will create a soft and fluffy looking Show clip.

The Poodle is a versatile breed, popular as a gun dog, noted for its ability in the water and bird hunting skills, and as a beloved family pet. They excell at hunting, tracking, protection, and even entertainment. The poodle is also skillful in many dog sports, including agility, obedience, tracking, and herding. Poodles have taken top honors in many conformation shows, including “Best in Show” at the Westminster in 1991 and 2002, and at the World Dog Show in 2007 and 2010.
