This Shih Tsu Maltese Weathervane is wonderfully effective and playful. Our clients for this design were creating a portrait of their Abby, and used body position and optional palladium gilding to capture the nature and markings of their canine pal. In this portrayal the dog and squirrels have been crafted in copper in swell-bodied style. The dog’s collar and the acorns in the squirrel’s paws are brass. As this vane weathers and then patinas the difference in these two metals will become increasingly subtle. Optional gilding in gold leaf on these areas would create bright contrast that will last for many years. The collar has been inscribed with the dog’s name. These collars will accept two dog’s names, one on each side, and a third if you choose to add a tag. We also included a personal inscription of the horizontal pipe.
We offer an expansive selection of glass eyes, here brown eyes were selected, but this is a distinction that is chosen by you when your order is placed. This would also be the time you would choose any gilding, and ‘Lucky Pennies‘ for your sculpture piece.
Because of the high detail in the little swell-bodied squirrels our artisans cannot create this sculpture in small. But we can do so if you choose to have your squirrels in Silhouette Style…meaning they are cut from a single sheet of copper.
