Golfer Weathervane – Happy

Golf Weather Vane - Happy

This Happy Golfer Weathervane has been very popular. It was once ordered by a golf club repairman as part of a pair for his home workshop. The roof structure had two peaks, which he amusingly capped one with this Happy Golfer and the other with our Frustrated Golfer Weathervane. The customers love it.

There are many fun design elements to this sculpture piece. It is crafted primarily of copper in the swell bodied style. The Arrow and Fletching have been stylized to create a golf hole with ball in cup. The ball has been optionally gilded in gold, as have various other features of our golfer, and palladium leaf for the hair, belt, and golf club shaft. The flag is brass. The hammered texture lines our skilled artisans have added to the golfer’s clothing create a classic, realistic appearance. You may also choose a particular glass eye color for your golfer.

To help commemorate a particular hole-in-one, the number of the hole can be added to the flag with optional gold or palladium leaf. We can also personalize the golfer by adding a beard, mustache, and/or custom hat. Another personalization for any of our golfer weather vanes is to design a change of gender. Inscriptions can be added to the arrow’s shaft or the flag pole.

The modern game of golf originated in Scotland, where the first written mention of the sport is of James II’s banning of the game in 1457, as an unwelcome distraction to learning archery. The first eighteen-hole golf course in the United States was located on a sheep farm in Downers Grove, Illinois, in 1892. The course is still situated there today.
