Grape Weathervane – Cabernet Sauvignon

Grape Weather Vane Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Cabernet Sauvignon Weather Vane is one of a series of grape cluster varietals offered here at West Coast Weather Vanes. We also offer Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot Grape Weather Vanes. In addition, we offer Wine Bottle and Glasses weather vanes and Grape Vine weather vanes. As shown here the grape cluster, stem and tendrils are of copper and the three leaves are of brass. Metal choices are made at the time of the individual order and also include an all copper sculpture piece and/or optional gold leafed in the veins of the leaves and/or small palladium leaf ‘water droplets’ on individual grapes.

Because we specialize in custom copper weather vanes, we can also create designs based on other varietals. If you have a winery, are known for a particular varietal, or are simply passionate about wine or viniculture, we would be happy to work with you to create a grape cluster vane, a grape vine vane or a wine themed weathervane that reflects your tastes and interests.

Each type of grape varies both in the leaf structure and the way the clusters form, and you will see that some of our grape weather vanes have serrated leaves while others are deeply notched. Some of our grape clusters are very tightly bunched while others are longer and looser in form, all depending on the varietal.

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world’s most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse spectrum of climates from Canada’s Okanagan Valley to Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in Bordeaux wines where it is often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

The use of wine in religious ceremonies is common to many cultures and regions both ancient and contemporary. As early as 5000 BC, archaeological evidence exists documenting its use. Religions as diverse as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism and Hinduism all offer precepts and doctrines revolving around wine.

We’ve always thought it would be wonderful to make a Bacchus/Dionysus weathervane. Over the years we have created a number of Greek god and goddess weathervanes but are still lacking one inspired by the God of Wine.  If anyone is interested in commissioning such a weathervane, I would be willing to the design work gratis, as long as we have permission to reuse the design in the future.
