Shown above is a later version of our Basic Dressage Horse Weather Vane, originally created for the Oaks Equestrian Facility in Lake City, Florida. The mane and tail have optional gold leafing but, since all our vanes are constructed to order, this horse weathervane can be made entirely in copper or with a brass or optional palladium gilded mane and tail. We also offer an alternate version of this Basic Dressage Weathervane, which we refer to as Version 1.
Our customers at The Oaks also requested a braided mane and flowing tail but if you prefer, your horse weathervane can be made with a flowing mane and braided tail. We can even use optional gold or palladium leaf to match distinctive markings on your horse.
This particular horse is an example of a non-mirror image weathervane because each of the horse’s legs are in a different position, rather than side by side as would be the case if the horse was standing still. When both sides of a weathervane are identical, the style is called mirror-image. With each of the four legs is in a different position, as is the case here, a non-mirror image weathervane is typically more dynamic and more difficult to make than its mirror imaged counterpart. Greater technical skill and understanding of the metal is required to align the disparate sides correctly.
As the first branded equestrian facility in the world, O’Connor Signature at The Oaks is modeled after successful golf course brands such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio. The O’Connor Signature designation marks the highest industry standards for design, construction, programming, staffing and management to insure optimum quality, safety and efficiency.
