This Monkeypod Fork Weathervane is the logo of a restaurant in Lahaina, Maui. Beyond being an exclusive design it is also a custom size. We have posted it here to illustrate how a weathervane can be used to enhance a business in a memorable way.
Historically, in the late 1600s and early 1700s, when weathervanes crossed the Atlantic with the early colonists, wind vanes transitioned from being used by the aristocracy to showcase their coat of arms, to a means of advertising ones place of business in a time when much of the populace could not read. Hence, a blacksmith might have an anvil weather vane, and a seamstress a needle and thread.
A restaurant with a fork weathervane follows in that long tradition of using a vane to denote your profession.
