This fresh Onion Weathervane was ordered for installation on a new garage being built on a small family farm. The onions represented are a specific variety developed by our customer’s foremothers.

This is a copper vane fabricated in swell bodied style with optional gold leafing to create the contrast between the onion bulbs and the green tops. As this sculpture piece weathers and eventually patinas the copper will become green, which will make this weather vane truly representative of the subject.

Historically weather vanes were quite often used as signage for homes and businesses because they are visible from a distance and do not require either literacy or sharp vision to locate.
