The Spotted Owl is the newest member of our owl weathervane family. To imply the distinct markings of this beautiful bird we apply gold leaf to the copper body. As you can see from the pictures above, some customers have ordered this weathervane with very little gilding and others with much more gilding than is included in this pricing. Call if you would like to discuss options and pricing. We have also created a version of the Spotted Owl Weathervane for a customer who wanted the owl clutching a cluster of grapes in its talons.
One of our favorite things is working with our customers on new designs. For example, we have yet to do a Barn Owl or Saw-whet Owl, both of which would make very beautiful weathervanes. If you have a particular favorite owl, please let us know. It would be a pleasure to work with you to create a new Owl Weathervane design.
The Spotted Owl weather vane featured in this photo has custom made glass eyes. They give it a very life like appearance!
Our first customers for this Spotted Owl Weathervane were Ann and Bob Dickson. They ordered a medium sized version of the design for Ann’s birthday. Once the weathervane was installed, they were gracious enough to send us a photo of the new vane on top of their house. In the note that accompanied their pictures they wrote:
Our little 11 year old neighbor Jordan said she looks at ‘HOOTY’ every morning as she walks to the school bus so she can see which way the wind is blowing! Very cute. It is beautiful.
