With our Traditional Quail Weathervane on Feather, Coturnix coturnix, we have created a folk art variation of our more realistic standard quail weathervanes. It is depicted here on a feather but we have also made a variation where we substitute an arrow in place of the feather.
We often use optional gold leaf to accent the distinctive markings for which this bird is known. Our most popular gold leafing option is to do the topknot, beak and legs but as shown here, we made the topknot, beak and legs in brass for a more subtle metal variation in color as the weathervane goes through its patina process.
We make our Quail weathervanes with custom glass eyes purchased from a taxidermist. Typically our Quail come with brown eyes with black pupils, giving them a very life-like appearance.
Because of this design’s popularity we offer a number of weathervane variations on this theme. They include Family of Quail, Male Quail on Feather, Female Quail eating seeds, Female Quail with 2 Chicks, Quail with poppies & lupin and the Traditional Male Quail on Feather.
