This copper Tiger Weathervane is one of our most spectacular designs. But then, how can you go wrong working with such a superb subject! Our artisans have each made their own specialty hammers for creating fur, musculature and etching the stripes. The overall impact is of contained motion, and spinning in the wind is quite amazing. This fierce tiger has colored glass eyes that are chosen at the time the order is placed.
We could also make a version of our tiger with optional palladium leafing to delineate the stripes or one with optional palladium leafed stripes and optional gold leafing for the underbelly and inner ears, which is the most realistic coloration of them all!
This is a vane you really have to see in person to fully appreciate the visual impact of the tiger’s presence. Please call for gold or palladium leafing pricing.
The tiger, Panthera tigris, is a mammal of the Felidae family, one of four ‘big cats’ in the Panthera genus. Native to the mainland of southeastern Asia, the tiger is an apex predator and the largest feline species in the world, comparable in size to the biggest fossil felids. The Bengal Tiger is the most common subspecies of tiger, constituting approximately 80% of the entire tiger population, and is found in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Nepal. It is the national animal of India. An endangered species, the majority of the world’s tigers now live in captivity.
