This Water Sculpture was commissioned for placing in a small entry pond that does not have enough depth for living plants. It was designed to rest on the floor of the pond, with cattails shooting up (Typhaceae) and blooming water lilies (Nymphaeaceae) appearing to be spreading on the water. It is quite stunning in place as can be seen in the customer photo above.
Our artists fabricated this piece out of brass and copper, sheet and rod. We love the final effect, and look forward to watching the green patina ‘bloom’ up onto the leaves and stalks. Being in a water environment will likely speed this weathering process.
If you would like to personalize one of our weathervane designs into a sculpture piece, we would be happy to discuss it. We have also had customers order weathervanes to mount in an exposed location that receives enough wind to have it turn just at the water surface. This motion is a great effect. Our Floating Swan Weathervane and our Frog and Dragonfly Weathervane, among others, would both be excellent options for this kind of installation.
